Tips for Visitors
Please stay together. Experiencing the museum is more enjoyable with your family and friends. We suggest adults to hold hands with younger children in the galleries.
Don’t forget to take a Welcome Guide with a map from the admission desk. Plan on where to meet if anyone is separated. A Visitor Service Associate is always around to help.
Look at the art with your eyes and not your hands. We want to keep you and the artwork safe.
Pencils and sketchbooks are the only drawing tools allowed in the galleries.
No food or drink is permitted in the galleries. Please enjoy these inside our café.
Photography is allowed except where noted. Feel free to share on social media using #thejamesmuseum. No flash photography, tripods, large video cameras or selfie sticks, please.
Water fountains and restrooms are located on the first and second floors. Please refer to our museum map or ask a Visitor Service Associate for help. All restrooms are equipped with diaper changing tables, and are ADA accessible.
Backpacks may be worn by adults, on the front of your body. Lockers are provided on the first floor across from the admission desk. Children are not permitted to carry backpacks in the galleries.
Artwork is best conserved at a lower temperature. We recommend bringing a sweater or jacket even if it is warm outside.
Always walk, never run. We don’t want you to miss anything.
We have a quiet zone for lactation, prayer, and/or sensory breaks. Please ask a Visitor Service Associate for assistance.
Standard strollers are allowed in the galleries.
