All Are Welcome

At The James Museum, we want all visitors to fully engage with our exhibitions, galleries, and programming. As an ADA-compliant facility, we strive to meet the needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, have low vision or require mobility accommodations. The James Museum is also committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, political affiliation, sex, age, or disability.

Additional questions or requests? Please give us a call at (727) 892-4200 and we will work with you to accommodate.

Wheelchairs

The museum is fully accessible by wheelchair. Wheelchairs are also available upon request at the front desk for use in the museum.

Autism-Friendly

Sensory Kits and a Quiet Zone are available at the museum. Review the visual guide created in partnership with our friends at the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at The University of South Florida (CARD).

Service Animals

Registered service animals are welcome in the museum.
Three people view and discuss a framed painting in an art gallery; thanks to Accessibility Programs, one person is in a wheelchair, another points at the artwork, and the third stands nearby wearing a mask.

Art in Mind

Art in Mind at The James Museum is an innovative, inclusive in-gallery experience for adults living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia and their caregivers. Developed in collaboration with University of Southern Florida and led by trained museum docents, these tours offer a space for connection, expression and enjoyment through the transformative power of art. Contact [email protected] to learn more.

Art in Mind is generously sponsored by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.

Three children in a family program pet a small, light-colored horse with braided hair indoors. The horse wears a pink halter and harness while one child looks at a badge.

Sensory-Friendly Mornings

The event takes place before the museum opens for the day! Activities and artmaking experiences are specifically designed for adults and families with neurodiversity or sensory processing differences. Mini horses from Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures are frequent special guests. All ages and developmental levels are welcome.

Neurodiversity initiatives generously sponsored by Paul & Rose Baker Reilly.

An adult and a child sit together as the child paints a colorful abstract face on a canvas in an art gallery, sparking conversations about creativity and financial literacy through the art’s depiction of money value.

Beyond Sight: Multi-Sensory Highlights of the Collection Tour

This tour is designed for people who have low or limited vision and their caretakers. Discover new connections to our museum collection through activities designed to engage our senses of hearing, smell and touch.
