This gallery celebrates the Western frontier and the cowboy, an iconic symbol of the American West. From their heyday in the 1880s, cowboy stories have carried on through pulp fiction, movies, television—and fine art. The gallery presents works by several members of The Cowboy Artists of America, an exclusive group dedicated to depicting the West. There are also stories of fur traders, settlers, and even some outlaws.

Today, artists continue to play to, and against, stereotypes as they further our collective fascination with the frontier. Artists include Thomas Blackshear II, Mian Situ, Andy Thomas, Vic Payne and Jason Rich.
