Inspired by the landscape paintings of contemporary Cherokee artist Kay WalkingStick and the Hudson River School, this workshop explores the connection between place, memory, and identity. Led by teaching artist Linda Griffin, participants will create an original acrylic landscape on wood panel inspired by a place that holds personal meaning.

Before class, you will be asked to bring a photograph of a landscape that is meaningful to you – whether it’s where you grew up, a place connected to your family, or somewhere that simply inspires you.
The workshop begins with a brief conversation about the stories behind our chosen landscapes before moving into the painting process. As you create your artwork, you’ll have the opportunity to include a personal symbol that reflects your connection to the place you’ve chosen. All levels welcome; no experience necessary

Workshop fee includes materials and museum admission. Space is limited; advance registration required. Please bring your own lunch. Coffee, tea and water provided.
