The James Museum staff launched a research project to uncover more about the individuals featured in photographer Edward Curtis’s iconic Native American portraits. The work inspired a special portrait installation within our special exhibition, “Edward S. Curtis: Photographer of His Time”. Join the installation co-curators Caitlin Pendola and Ernest Gendron as they share their behind-the-scenes process of humanizing and contextualizing these historic images—from decoding handwritten clues to navigating curatorial choices.

Museum admission sold separately. Space is limited; advance ticket purchase required.

James Museum program and event tickets, excluding Jamboree, are refundable up to 48 hours before the event, non-refundable within 48 hours or after, and transferrable; for assistance, contact [email protected].
