Black Pioneers: Legacy in the American West | Discussion with Ron Tarver, Photographer and Pulitzer Prize Winner

Photographer Ron Tarver’s book, The Long Ride Home: Black Cowboys in America, captures beautiful, compelling, often surprising contemporary images of African American cowboys that not only convey their way of life and rich heritage but also affirm a thriving contemporary culture of Black-owned ranches and rodeo operations, parades, inner-city cowboys, retired cowhands and young rodeo clowns. Tarver will share insights into this decade-long project and sign his book immediately after his talk. Limited copies of the book are available for purchase in the Museum Shop.
