ART IN MIND

Sponsored by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.

Art in Mind at The James Museum is an innovative initiative that offers a discussion-based in-gallery experience for adults with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Developed in collaboration with the University of South Florida’s Judy Genshaft Honors College, specially trained museum docents and undergraduate students facilitate an hour-long tour designed to promote expression, connection and an overall positive experience through the exploration of art.

Art in Mind is made possible through philanthropy. You will make it possible to create a space for connection, expression and enjoyment through art. Your gift allows The James to serve both adults with dementia and their caregivers, making a difference in their lives. The techniques used for Art in Mind can also be used for individuals with learning disabilities. The video on this page shows the impact on students from Nina Harris Exceptional School.

Thanks to the generous support of an anonymous donor, your gift to support Art in Mind will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling your impact!

Museums for All is an initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. YOU can help eliminate the cost of admission so our neighbors receiving food assistance can enjoy all the magic and wonder here.

ART FOR ALL

The Art for All fund provides free educational opportunities for adults and children receiving food assistance, including providing bus transportation for Tier 1 schools to visit the museum. YOU can make it possible for people of all backgrounds to visit The James Museum regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits.

COLLECTIONS CARE

The James Museum Collection Care Fund provides funding to be used for the maintenance and conservation of the permanent collection. The permanent collection consists of approximately 400 works of art selected from over 3,000 pieces acquired by Tom and Mary James over their 50 years of art collecting.

Donations of $1,000 and above may be made to the Collection Care Fund. Gifts of $50,000 and above may be recognized on a mutually agreeable work of art in the permanent collection. Recognition is noted on the placard placed by the artwork.
