In 2001, Navajo teenager Fred Martinez was brutally murdered, the victim of a hate crime. Martinez identified as “two spirit,” or nádleehí (nod-lay), a Navajo term defined as a male-bodied person with a feminine essence. Join us for a virtual screening of this powerful documentary about the short life and tragic death of Martinez, and the rich history of Navajo gender identity.
