As an author and oral storyteller, Jim Kissane employs story-crafting techniques that make history engaging and entertaining. His ability to create compelling stories with unexpected twists, humor and poignant moments sets his work apart from more traditional historical accounts. Join us this summer for this special storytelling series inspired by the museum’s collections and special exhibitions.

Uncover two remarkable untold stories of the American frontier: the compassionate Wel Mel Ti tribe who risked their lives to secretly aid the doomed Donner Party, and Elizabeth Markham, whose psychological breakdown on the Oregon Trail led her family to make unthinkable choices. Experience these powerful narratives of mercy and madness that reveal the profound human cost of westward expansion.

James Museum program and event tickets, excluding Jamboree, are refundable up to 48 hours before the event, non-refundable within 48 hours or after, and transferrable; for assistance, contact [email protected].
