The Oregon Trail: A New American Journey, by Rinker Buck

Thursday, February 21

11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.

Included with admission; free for members

The 400,000 pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail in the years before the Civil War accounted for the largest land migration in U.S. history. Rinker Buck followed their wagon ruts with a covered wagon and mule team for 2,000 miles to tell us what it was like, then and now. Come along for the ride, laugh at Rinker’s mule troubles and learn about pioneers, Indians, cavalrymen and scam artists. Discussion led by Helen Huntley. Purchase a boxed lunch from The Canyon or bring your own. Space is limited; email education@thejamesmuseum.org to RSVP.
