Indigenous Female Voices: Exploring Four Decades of Literature
Led by anthropologist Dr. Gabrielle Vail, this biweekly series of four classes focuses on the novels, poems, and essays of five Native American writers—Louise Erdrich, Linda Hogan, Joy Harjo, Susan Power, and Leslie Marmon Silko. Each has a gift for examining the impact of the past on the present, relating narratives from multiple perspectives, and exploring conflict between the “white” and Native worlds. Examine literature that bridges the gap between stories particular to one tribe or place and those that reach across cultures and speak to all of us.
Space is limited; advanced registration required. All four sessions included in price.
*Please note the time change. Each class will run from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.
